Travel Advice & Safety
Before you travel, check your government's latest advice on health, safety, local laws and entry requirements for your destination on the official travel advisory website.
Tiger Holidays · Travel Information
Your health and wellbeing are important when travelling abroad.
Health risks, vaccination recommendations, medical facilities and entry requirements can vary significantly between destinations and may change over time.
Before booking and again before travelling, you should check the latest official health and travel advice for every country included in your itinerary, including any countries you will transit through.
The UK Government Foreign Travel Advice service provides destination-specific information covering health risks, entry requirements, safety and security, and local laws.
We recommend that you review the health advice for your destination well in advance of departure.
The UK Government advises travellers to check what vaccinations and health precautions may be required, ideally at least eight weeks before travel.
Depending on your destination and personal circumstances, you may need to consider:
recommended or required vaccinations;
malaria prevention;
mosquito and insect-borne diseases;
food and water safety;
extreme temperatures and sun exposure;
air quality;
altitude-related health risks;
local outbreaks of infectious diseases;
access to medical treatment;
medication restrictions; and
specific health documentation required for entry.
Requirements and recommendations vary by destination.
Some destinations may require or recommend specific vaccinations.
You should check the latest destination-specific recommendations and speak to an appropriate healthcare professional where necessary.
The NHS advises travellers to seek travel-health advice several weeks before departure because some vaccines require multiple doses or time to become effective.
You should also ensure that your routine UK vaccinations are up to date.
Do not assume that a vaccination is unnecessary simply because it is not a legal entry requirement. Recommended vaccinations may be intended to protect your health even when they are not required for entry.
Some countries may require health-related documentation as a condition of entry.
Depending on the destination and your recent travel history, this may include:
vaccination certificates;
health declarations;
medical documentation;
testing requirements; or
other public-health documentation.
These requirements can change.
You are responsible for ensuring that you meet the applicable health and entry requirements for your journey.
Please check the latest official information before departure.
If you have an existing medical condition, disability, reduced mobility or other health requirement that may affect your journey, you should consider seeking medical advice before travelling.
You should also make sure that your travel insurance provides suitable cover for your circumstances.
Where your condition may affect the suitability of:
your flight;
accommodation;
transfer;
excursion;
activity; or
another part of your package,
please contact Tiger Holidays before booking.
This allows us to request relevant information from the applicable travel supplier and determine whether appropriate arrangements can reasonably be made.
If you take prescription or other medication, make sure you have enough for your trip and any reasonable travel disruption.
Different countries have different rules concerning medicines.
A medicine that is legally prescribed or available in the United Kingdom may be restricted or controlled in another country.
Before travelling, you should check:
whether your medication can legally be taken into your destination;
whether there are quantity restrictions;
whether a doctor's letter or prescription is required;
whether the medicine must remain in its original packaging;
storage requirements during travel; and
rules applying in transit countries.
The UK Government recommends checking the rules for taking medicines abroad as part of your pre-travel health planning.
If you are pregnant, you should consider obtaining medical advice before travelling.
Airlines, cruise operators and other travel providers may apply restrictions at certain stages of pregnancy and may require medical documentation confirming that you are fit to travel.
Health risks can also differ by destination.
You should check:
airline or transport-provider requirements;
destination-specific health risks;
access to appropriate medical facilities;
your travel insurance cover; and
whether your planned activities are suitable.
Please contact us before booking if you need information about supplier requirements relating to your journey.
If you or another traveller has reduced mobility, a disability or a medical requirement, please tell us before booking wherever possible.
We may need to provide relevant information to airlines, accommodation providers, transfer companies or other suppliers in order to arrange requested assistance.
Special assistance is subject to confirmation by the relevant supplier.
Further information is available in our Accessibility Statement.
Food and water standards vary between destinations.
Depending on where you travel, official health advice may recommend precautions concerning:
drinking water;
ice;
raw or undercooked food;
unpasteurised products;
fresh fruit and vegetables; and
food from street vendors.
Check destination-specific health advice before travelling and follow local public-health guidance during your stay.
Some destinations have illnesses transmitted by mosquitoes, ticks or other insects.
Destination-specific advice may recommend precautions such as:
using insect repellent;
wearing appropriate clothing;
using mosquito nets or screened accommodation; or
taking preventive medication where medically recommended.
The risks vary by country, region and time of year, so check the current advice for your destination.
Hot climates can increase the risk of dehydration, sunburn and heat-related illness.
Take sensible precautions appropriate to your destination, including:
drinking sufficient fluids;
using appropriate sun protection;
avoiding excessive exposure during the hottest periods of the day; and
taking particular care with babies, children, older travellers and people with relevant health conditions.
Healthcare systems, facilities and emergency services vary between countries.
Treatment that would normally be available through the NHS may not be available free of charge abroad.
You may be required to pay for treatment, medicines, hospital care or medical transport.
For this reason, we strongly recommend appropriate travel insurance with sufficient medical and repatriation cover for your destination and personal circumstances.
Please see our Travel Insurance page for further information.
Where applicable, a valid UK Global Health Insurance Card (GHIC) or European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) may provide access to certain state healthcare services in participating countries.
A GHIC or EHIC does not replace comprehensive travel insurance and may not cover all medical treatment or medical repatriation.
You should check the applicable rules for your destination before travel.
The Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) publishes travel advice covering destinations worldwide.
The advice includes information about:
safety and security;
entry requirements;
health risks;
local laws and customs; and
significant travel disruption.
Travel advice may change between the date you book and your departure date.
You should therefore check the latest advice:
before booking;
after any significant change to your itinerary;
shortly before departure; and
during your trip where circumstances require.
You can also choose to receive updates from the UK Government for relevant destinations.
The FCDO may advise against:
all travel to a destination; or
all but essential travel to a destination or particular area.
Such advice may affect your holiday arrangements and may also affect your travel insurance.
If official travel advice changes after you have booked, please contact us so that we can review your booking and the applicable Booking Terms and Conditions.
Do not assume that a change in travel advice automatically creates a right to cancel without charge. Your rights will depend on the circumstances, the effect on your package and applicable law.
We strongly recommend that you obtain appropriate travel insurance as soon as your booking is confirmed.
Your policy should be appropriate for:
your destination;
your health and medical history;
the duration of your trip;
the activities you intend to undertake; and
the full value of your holiday.
Check that your policy provides suitable cover for emergency medical treatment and repatriation.
Please read our Travel Insurance page for further information.
If you become ill, injured or medically unable to travel before departure:
1. seek appropriate medical advice;
2. check your travel insurance policy;
3. contact your insurer where necessary; and
4. contact Tiger Holidays as soon as possible if your booking needs to be changed or cancelled.
Cancellation or amendment charges may apply in accordance with your Booking Terms and the conditions applicable to your package.
If you require urgent medical assistance while travelling, contact the appropriate local emergency or medical services.
Where the situation also affects your Tiger Holidays booking or travel arrangements, contact us as soon as reasonably possible.
Keep copies of:
medical reports;
prescriptions;
receipts;
hospital documentation;
police or emergency-service reports where relevant; and
other evidence relating to additional expenses.
These may be required by your insurer or in connection with changes to your booking.
Tiger Holidays provides general travel information and can assist with information relating to the travel services included in your booking.
We do not provide individual medical advice.
Health risks and appropriate precautions depend on your personal circumstances. Where you have questions concerning vaccinations, medication, pregnancy, an existing medical condition or whether you are medically fit to travel, you should seek advice from an appropriately qualified healthcare professional.
